Celebrating the Mother-to-be

For her power. Her beauty. Her magic. Her vulnerability. Herself.

A mother blessing is a ceremony inspired by an ancient Navajo ceremony called a blessing way. It is held to prepare a mother-to-be for her upcoming birth journey—to shower her with love, support and encouragement. It is a beautiful and intimate alternative to a baby shower, with the focus being on celebrating the mother, while she sits amongst women dear to her heart.

There are usually different stages we go through during a ceremony:

  • The first part is about welcoming the guest and setting the intention for the circle while creating a loving and safe space for the mama.

  • Then it is about letting go of fears and providing words of wisdom and encouragement.

  • Then we focus on honouring the mum-to-be through a few activities – including poetry reading, birth vision board, and guided meditation (these can be adjusted by the mama, so we do something that is aligned with her values, wants and needs, as well as something she is comfortable with).

  • Then we complete the ceremony (with a red thread circle and gifts).

  • We finish by sharing some beautiful food (shared plates).

Make it yours

A 2-hour ceremony includes ($300):

  • Altar set up

  • Materials for your chosen rituals (some might incur additional fees which will be disclosed when we discuss proposed activities)

  • Party favours (flower seeds or bath salts if we do herbal foot bath)

  • Preparatory meeting

Potential add-on:

  • Goddess yoga session ($45 for 30min or $75 for an hour): a feminine yoga flow for the mother-to-be and all her guests

The number of activities will vary, depending on the size of the group and the type of activities chosen. It is possible to design the ceremony to your wishes as each ritual is as individual as the person.

“To the mother. The Goddess. The one who grows. The one who nurtures. the one who creates life and love.”
