Almonds lemon coconut bliss balls: Yummy yummy in my tummy

Ok mamas, this might not be directly connected to prenatal yoga or postnatal yoga (although I believe eating a well balanced diet is part of looking after your whole wellbeing), but I have made these bliss balls as nurturing snacks for classes and for a mama blessing ceremony, and I have been asked for the recipe several times. So here it is!!

And as a bonus, I am sharing below why they are so good for you (whether you are pregnant or a new mama) if you are (of course) not allergic to them (or other nuts).

Almonds lemon coconut bliss balls:

For these you will need a strong food processor.

Ingredients (for about 15 balls):

  • 100g almonds

  • 60 g sunflowers seeds

  • zest of 1 lemon

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 10 g maple syrup

  • 60 gr desiccated coconut

  • Lemon essence (food grade)

Blitz seeds and nuts together with the lemon zest. When reduced in powder, add the remaining ingredients and blitz again, until perfectly combined. With wet hand, roll mixture into balls (Optional: roll each ball in extra coconut to coat). Leave in fridge to set (for at least 1h).

Why are they good for pregnancy and postpartum?

Almonds are power packed with mixed nutrients rich in iron, calcium, folic acid, and fibre - which are amazing for pregnancy and postpartum. However, if you are prone to nut allergies, you should avoid consuming them.

Also, almonds are great for breastfeeding mama as they are said to be the most lactogenic nut.

So, my final word is, ENJOY !!
